Anguilla is an external territory of the United Kingdom, and therefore is not eligible to independently compete at the Olympic Games. The Commonwealth Games therefore, provides Anguilla's athletes with a valuable opportunity to compete in a major international multi-sport event.

Trivia

  • In 1978 at team from St Kitts (Christopher) and Nevis and Anguilla competed at the Commonwealth Games.
  • Anguilla attended its first Games in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur, competing in the athletics, and have competed in all Games since.
  • A delegation of five athletes in track and field took part in Manchester and the team was lead by famous cricketer, Cardigan Conner.
  • They have yet to win a medal at the Commonwealth Games.
