Zimbabwe is a former member of the Commonwealth Games. They last competed in a Commonwealth Games in Manchester in 2002. Following the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Abuja, Nigeria in 2003, Zimbabwe withdrew from the Commonwealth.

Trivia

  • Zimbabwe formerly competed at the Commonwealth Games under the name Southern Rhodesia from 1934 until 1962 (in 1934 they may have competed as simply Rhodesia)
  • In 1953, the creation of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland grouped together Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and Nyasaland (now Malawi) as a single semi-autonomous region. A team from Rhodesia and Nyasaland attended the 1962 Commonwealth Games.
  • Zimbabwe joined the Commonwealth in 1980.
  • From 1982 until 2002, they competed under the name Zimbabwe (in 1986 they boycotted).
