The 3000m running race was a distance event on the athletics program for women at the Olympic Games from 1984 until 1992. The event has been superceded by the 5000m run, the same distance as the men. A 3000 meters for men was held at the Olympics as a team race at the 1912, 1920 and 1924. The long distance track races currently part of the Olympic Games athletics program is the 5000m and 10000m. There is a 3000m steeplechase event too.
