Morocco at the World Cup
Morocco first competed in the 1970 World Cup. Morocco competed for the 6th time at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco's best previous result was making the round of 16 in 1986. In the quarter-final in Qatar 2022, Morocco beat Portugal to become the first African nation to make the World Cup semi-finals. They ultimately finished fourth.
Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup.
Trivia
- Tunisia was the first team to win a qualifying match on penalty shootout, when they won 4:2 on penalties over Morocco after a 1:1 tie at home on 9 Jan 1977.
- Morocco qualified for the women's FIFA World Cup for the first time in 2023.
