Drifting is a car motorsport in which drivers take corners at speed and the back wheels slide out creating a trail of smoke from the tires. Drifting competitions first became popular in Japan in the 1970s, and is now a popular motorsport in many parts of the world.

Drifting drivers compete almost exclusively in rear-wheel-drive cars. The competitors earn points according to the speed, angle, showmanship and line taken through a corner.
