Tower Running, also known as Stair Climbing, involves a grueling race up tall man-made structures. Events are held around the world, particularly on significant landmarks. Races are held as either a time trial or in mass-start format.

Example Races

The Empire State Building Run-Up is held in New York every year. The runners can run up the 1,430 steps in about 10 minutes, only a little slower than the elevator!

In Australia the equivalent race is the Rialto Run-Up, in which the winner is awarded a trip to New York to compete in the Empire State Building race.
