The new sport of Cross-Country Big Ball was created by John Spielman from the USA in about 2000. The sport is a combination of cross-country running, baseball and soccer.

Equipment Required: baseball bat, soccer ball

Sport Description

Players hit a soccer ball with a baseball bat, over cross-country terrain, towards a goal. All players start at once. The ball is thrown up by one hand and then hit with the bat. They then run to where the ball has landed and repeat, hitting the ball towards the goal, following any path they choose. The first player to hit the ball to the goal wins, irrespective of the number of hits.
