The new sport of VocaBall was created by Joseph Ostraw from Baltimore, Maryland in August 2023. The sport is a combination of soccer and volleyball.

The game is played on a court with a net in the middle of a volleyball size court. A tennis court can be adjusted to fit a volleyball size. Three to six people can play. The players can use any part of their body-legs-arms-head to hit the ball over the net. The ball must be foam with a high balance. The team getting 21 pts first wins.

Equipment Required: Foam volleyball so children can and not get hurt. A net to add to a tennis net.

Sport Details

Basics

  • 3 to 6 players on each team.
  • Court size standard volleyball  court with a 7-foot net.
  • Ball size volleyball made of foam with balance to the person hip.
  • Objective: Score 21 points first, and break a tie by getting 2 points more.

Gameplay 

  • The ball is hit or kicked behind the back line over the net and must balance in the opposite court.

Play 

  • Use any body part to return the ball.
  • The team has up to three touches to return the ball.
  • The ball can only hit the floor one tine on either side.

Special Rules

  • Header Bonus. Score Int using a header earns 2 points.
  • Net Ricochet. If the ball hits the net and goes over, play continues.

Winning 

  • First to 21 win by 2.
  • Best of 3 sets wins.
