We have a discussion about what is the world's most popular sport. Here are some of the lists that have been published online.
The similarity of these lists is that for the majority of them soccer / association football is on top, irrespective of the criteria for the list.
Whether the list is based on most fans or most participants or whatever the definition of popular, World Football / Soccer is top of the list. Depending on what criteria you use for popularity, the next sports in the list may include basketball, cricket, volleyball, baseball and other versions of football (American, rugby). We have compared these lists and on average, after soccer on the top of the list, cricket is next then baseball.

Oh, Cricket should not be considered as a sport god damn. I live in London and walking in the park and watching people playing that so called sport makes me sick. 10 people standing doing nothing.. Try a true sport, like rugby, basketball, football you lazy 'players'. you probably cant even get fit while playing cricket ... Some years ago i saw some stats on the most PARTICIPATORY sports in the World. If my memory serves me right the top three were, by far the economic sports, volleyball, basketball and soccer. and then a big drop it was shooting. Can you confirm or deny it and or correct it. - Manoj (2013)

Soccer/football is popular worldwide. Cricket is popular only in certain regions, so no cricket is definitely not the most popular worldwide. - I think 20 20 cricket is the best from soccer bcoz 20 20 cricket is entitlement sports all over the world this game is 3hour really entertainment.
